SC1-S, derived from the iconic muffler SC1. The new SC1-S was developed by the R&D department for the powerful-powered motorbike.
Short, compact and modern for those who prefer minimal shapes. The new end cap carbon-fiber Twill with a decisive and strong character adapts well to the shapes of the BMW S 1000 R.
The metallic part of the exit section has been designed to integrate better with the sportive design of the carbon end cap. The muffler is equipped with DB-killer and its specific block system.
The muffler is EURO 5 homologated. The external part can be supplied both in Titanium and Carbon edition.
SC Project SC1-S Exhaust Carbon Fibre for BMW S 1000 R 2021-2024
1. Fitment & Product Overview
The SC1‑S Carbon Fibre (part number B39A‑124C) is SC‑Project’s Euro 5‑approved slip‑on for BMW S 1000 R models from 2021 to 2024. It’s homologated for street use, includes the EC/ECE certificate, and comes with a 24-month official warranty. Installation is plug‑and‑play—no ECU remap required—and it attaches cleanly using OEM headers and mounting points.
This compact, modern silencer is designed for riders who prefer minimal form and function. The muffler features a carbon fibre body and cap, with a titanium link pipe for reduced weight and improved aesthetics.
2. Construction & Materials
-
Body & end cap: High-grade carbon fibre, providing strength and heat resistance.
-
Link pipe: Titanium, with TIG welding and CNC-machined hardware ensuring precision fit and low weight.
-
Weight savings: Approximately 0.6 kg lighter than stock (OEM ≈ 2.3 kg → SC ≈ 1.7 kg), enhancing handling and brake feel.
The slim profile and minimalist design appeal to riders who want a sporty appearance without excess bulk.
3. Performance Gains
SC‑Project rates this model at +0.8 hp at ~10,000 rpm and +0.6 Nm torque at the same rpm range.
Although these power gains are modest, combined with significant weight reduction, the result is improved throttle response and more direct handling, especially for spirited riding or canyon-style cornering.
4. Sound & Noise Profile
Tone & Loudness
The SC1‑S includes a removable dB-killer, which is relatively rare for SC slip-ons. That allows riders to retain quieter volume when needed and still experience a more aggressive tone when removed.
With the dB-killer in place, sound is balanced—deeper and cleaner than stock without becoming intrusive. Removing it dramatically changes the character: idle becomes bold and throaty, and mid/high revs are richer and more aggressive but still generally manageable for street use.
Community Feedback
Reddit users appreciate the SC1‑S for its usability:
“Even the dB‑killer is easy removable … With db‑killer in it’s still a lot more deep and less muffled sounding. But without db‑killer it’s a world of difference.”
Other riders note that compared to louder SC models, the SC1‑S offers a more refined experience while still providing depth and presence.
5. Kit Contents & Installation
Included in the SC1‑S package:
-
Carbon fibre slip‑on muffler
-
Titanium link pipe
-
Springs, screws, and SC-Project decals
-
Carbon fibre heat shield
-
dB-killer pre-installed, easy to remove
-
Homologation card and 24-month warranty
Installation is straightforward: it typically takes around 1–1.5 hours, and utilizes OEM headers. No tuning or remapping is usually necessary. One owner confirmed flawless fitment on a 2022 model, without triggering ECU warnings.
6. Rider Perspectives & Real‑World Feedback
Strengths noted by users:
-
Appreciated the ease of dB-killer removal, offering flexibility between street and weekend sound modes.
-
Sound described as “deep and rich” with the baffle in—not overly loud, just more visceral than stock.
-
Build quality praised: carbon end cap looks crisp, installation was straightforward, and sound lived up to expectations.
Caveats mentioned:
-
Some users found it still louder than desired even with the baffle in, given SC’s inherent signature volume.
-
Comparison threads suggest riders often favor SC1‑R or Akrapovič for deeper performance gains or refined tone.
7. Comparisons: SC1‑S vs SC1‑R vs Others
Model | Power/Torque | Weight Reduction | dB‑Killer | Sound Level & Character |
---|---|---|---|---|
SC1‑S Carbon | +0.8 hp / +0.6 Nm | –0.6 kg | ✅ Yes | Deep and refined; adjustable loudness |
SC1‑R Carbon | +1.0 hp / +0.6 Nm | –0.3 kg | ❌ No | Louder, sportier, more aggressive tone |
CR-T / S1 | Similar or higher | –1+ kg | ❌ No | Loudest; raw MotoGP-style volume |
Compared to SC1‑R, the SC1‑S prioritizes quiet usability with deeper bass and better flexibility. SC1‑R delivers the full aggressive tone but lacks a baffle. CR‑T or S1 are even louder and more intense.
8. Pros & Cons

Plug‑and‑play in minutes, no ECU issues.
Cons
-

-
Even though quieter than SC1‑R, SC1‑S is still louder than stock.

-
Risk of knockoffs—always buy from authorized sources.
9. Best Fit For…
Ideal if you:

Want a refined yet sporty sound—strong, deep tone but not overwhelming.
-
Value flexibility between street and spirited riding states.
-
Prefer carbon aesthetics and minimalist exhaust styling.
-
Ride in urban areas and occasionally desire stealth mode.
-
Want plug‑and-play installation with legal compliance.

-
Ride mainly off-road or track where max flow matters more.
-
Want the loudest option regardless of neighbor reactions.
10. Final Thoughts
The SC‑Project SC1‑S Carbon Fibre Slip‑On for the BMW S 1000 R (2021–2024) strikes a rare balance: elegant styling, meaningful weight reduction, usable acoustic impact, and performance gains—while offering adjustable volume control, thanks to its dB-killer.
It’s designed for spirited riders who want more presence than stock, but still need usability and compliance. Its lightness and refined tone make it a strong pick for street riders who don’t want to sacrifice comfort.
If you’re after maximum sonics or track-aesthetic boldness, the SC1‑R or CR‑T may deliver more drama. But for everyday usability with an edge, SC1‑S is one of SC‑Project’s most balanced offerings.
